SUNRISE SUMMIT AND MYSTICAL CRATER LAKE
The second tallest mountain in Indonesia outside West Papua, Mt. Rinjani holds its beauty surrounded by mystical charms and solitude. Occupying most of the northern part of Lombok island, the conservation area for the World Heritage 2004 encompasses three regencies of Lombok.
Trekkers of Rinjani will be rewarded with stunning sunrise at the summit, which followed by the rewarding rest and soothing bath at the hotspring on the coast of the Segara Anak Crater Lake.
The three nights trek typically starts early morning after spending the night at the staging base at one of the simple lodges in Sembalun Lawang of East Lombok, up to the first base camp of Plawangan, before continuing to the summit on the wee hour of dawn the following day. The next stage is down to the crater lakeside to set camp and spend the third night. Dip at the sulphuric hotspring, and fishing on the lakeside for carp for supper. Continue next day with moderate trek down to Senaru Village of North Lombok, where the trek ends.
